Award ceremony will take place during the Vermont Worksite Wellness Conference on March 27

HINESBURG, Vt., U.S. — Renewable NRG Systems has been recognized with a Worksite Wellness Silver Level Award by the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness & Sports and the Vermont Department of Health. This award acknowledges the company’s fitness facilities and initiatives that encourage employee health and wellbeing.

“Worksites that promote healthy eating, physical activity, tobacco use cessation, and breastfeeding contribute to the overall health and wellness of all Vermonters, and they are one of the key reasons we are routinely rated the nation’s healthiest state,” said Health Commissioner Harry Chen, MD.

At the Renewable NRG Systems headquarters in Hinesburg, Vt., employees have access to a fitness room with cardio and weightlifting equipment, a lap pool, mapped walking trails, a volleyball net, and a basketball hoop for pick-up games. The company’s clean air work environment features extensive natural daylight—including the warehouse area—and environmentally friendly building materials.

In addition, the company’s volunteer cross-departmental committee, known as “NRGize Your Life,” organizes events throughout the year to support wellness of spirit, mind, and body. In the past year, NRGize has undertaken traditional programs such as weight loss, yoga, chair massage and chiropractic services, ergonomics consultations, blood drives, an annual golf tournament, and food shelf volunteering. Non-traditional programs include a lunchtime scavenger hunt, a Haunted Hall for Halloween, and the popular event NRGenius Trivia, which brings together cross-departmental teams once a week in the company café.

“We’re proud of our wellness initiatives and the support we receive from our leadership team,” said Anna Grady, director of human resources. “While everyone works hard in their daily jobs, the wellness activities bring a great sense of team spirit, energy, and fun to our workplace! It is these kinds of things that help develop lasting friendships and build stronger working relationships and more productive employees.”

The Worksite Wellness award ceremony will take place on March 27, 2014, at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center in South Burlington, Vt.
